Spontaneous Poetry

Out the window is white in the morning
I wonder if it's snowed
hand is cold on the pane
and I huff my breath
and look for the white mist
that should follow
It's just another winter day

I want to be in it
and out of it at the same time
warm and snug
with snowflakes touching my face
a blanket soft on my skin
and icicles dripping
on an outstretched hand

I love it when the world is white
It makes it easier to see
the dirt that hangs underneath
It's comforting to know it's there
under a bright blanket
reassuring and frightening
to know that nothing's perfect

Just another winter day
the clouds that block out the sun
the ice in the air
and just that chance
that you might slip
because someone always slips
even in a white world.
