The lovely Madeleine at Scribble and Edit is hosting the Novel Films Blogfest!! I'll admit - I've slacked a little in putting together my list. My mind isn't working with me lately. So, rather than list ALL the movies/tv shows I've seen, based on novels that I've also read - I thought I'd give you my TOP 5:
#1: Harry Potter (this should be on EVERYONE's list, imho!)
#2: Lord of the Rings - EPIC! 'Nuff said: (oh, except - can't wait to see what they do with The Hobbit!!!!)
#3: Stardust - Oh, dear Robert DeNiro... (a lot of people didn't like this adaptation...or so I hear...but, I loved the film better than the book, personally!)
#4: The Mists of Avalon - the mini-series didn't really touch the darker/heavier themes of the book, but I still find it enjoyable!
#5: Wicked - Ok, now I know this isn't a film or tv show, BUT it has been adapted to a medium I can VIEW - so it counts!! Saw this on Broadway in London - LOVED IT!! The book is A LOT darker - I'll have to say the play wins out for me, but still a must see/must read.
Tell me - what are some of your favorites???
And don't forget to check out the link above for Scribble and Edit and check out the other participants. It might jog your memory about a book or a movie adaptation you've been meaning to read/see!! :)

LOTR is my favorite!
Harry Potter has just retrieved itself for me.. Didn't like Hollows part 1 but part 2 was excellent
Of your list I would put stardust at number I LOVE IT..
For me, Harry Potter depends on the movie. I felt some were really good, but others just didn't do it.
I think I need to pick up Stardust, I've been seeing it on a lot of lists!
I still have to watch the 3rd of the Lord of the Rings series, but I haven't seen any of your other choices. Haven't read any of these.
I will eventually watch the entire HP series someday.

Tossing It Out
While I love books, I am a movie FIEND and oftentimes see the movie before I've ever read the books. And then . . . I usually don't care too much for the books, lol. BUT in the case of LTR I can knowledgeably say that the movie was a fantastic adaptation!
I loved loved loved Wicked! What an amazing show. I saw it in Toronto with my sister and it was fantastic. I tried to read the book, but I couldn't get into. Thanks for adding this to your list - Fantastic!

Stardust is actually one of the few films where I liked some aspects of the movie better than the book.
I LOVED every one of your choices and the only book I didn't read was Stardust.
I decided to concentrate on the classics....
I've developed a bit of a phobia about seeing movies based on books I liked. (Oh my poor, poor Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Clan of the Cave Bear). So I've avoided the Stardust movie, but maybe I could risk it. I did enjoy the Harry Potter and LOTR movies. They made some adaptions for the screen while staying true to the feel of the original work.
I loved the Mists of Avalon as a novel, but wasn't super crazy about the movie. And I saw Wicked live a couple of years ago and enjoyed it, but wasn't crazy about the book (which I read after). Funny how that goes!
I really liked Stardust too, but haven't read it yet. Not many people mention it. Must be DeNiro's funniest role, ROFLMAO.
I want to see Stardust--it's one of my favorite books by Neil Gaiman.
Great list! I haven't read most of the above, so they didn't make my main list. I did read Mists, but haven't seen the TV version.
Ooh there's 2 there I've not even heard of book or film ( the last 2). I loved loved loved Stardust film. Thanks for taking part :O)
Great recommendations. I still have to watch most of those, but thanks for taking part in the blogfest!
If you get a chance, check out a fellow writer's zombie story and help me make him wear an embarrassing shirt next year! It's the ultimate grudge match between social media and the zombies. Details are here:

Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings would both be on my list. Haven't seen the other three.
